Residential Remodel

Comprehensive remodel of a single family residence, exterior front entry + decks included strategic excavation at the lower level to accomodate a studio apartment to host family and friends visiting from abroad.

This charming one-story house has overlooked San Francisco since 1938. The remodel reconfigured the floorplan and relocated the entry, but the façade remains virtually untouched. The east wall opens up to a beautiful lot and city view. Some strategic excavation created a legal lower level with bedrooms, baths, and laundry. Repair to a 10’ retaining wall at grade allowed for a high-ceilinged studio apartment for family members visiting from abroad. Decks at all levels easily wrap down to an outdoor kitchen and a yard filled with fruit trees.
